The cup holder question
The Hydro Flask deserves its own paragraph. It is the lightest bottle here per ounce, OutdoorGearLab's top pick, and rated 24 hours cold and 12 hot. Its site returned 403 to every fetch, and the archived warranty page has no readable text, so this site cannot quote a term and scores the warranty axis as unknown. That is a limitation of our sourcing, not a verdict on Hydro Flask, and the card says so. Hydro Flask vs Yeti is the head-to-head with that caveat in full.
Klean Kanteen wins because every one of its numbers is on its own page: the 66-hour iced claim, the lifetime term with its authorized-seller condition, the gasket kit that fits the Twist, Chug, Café, Straw and Loop caps. Owala is second on the same logic: 24 hours cold, a limited lifetime term, a replacement-parts page. Yeti's Rambler earns third on a 5-year term and three caps sold, and loses ground on weight (22 oz on OutdoorGearLab's scale) and on publishing no hour figure. Buyer's guide: the bottle you keep
The cap is the bottle
Chug for volume, straw for sipping, loop cap for hot (Klean Kanteen's is the only one here rated for hot), FreeSip for both. Buy the bottle whose maker sells all of them.
Wide mouth for ice
Every bottle here takes cubes; narrow-mouth bottles do not, and ice is the retention.
Water only, for some
Owala: no hot, carbonated or perishable liquids. Klean Kanteen Chug and Twist caps: cold only. Purist: not above 185°F.
Buy from an authorized seller
Klean Kanteen's term excludes unauthorized sellers by name; Yeti's requires an authorized dealer.
Replace the gasket, not the bottle
Tumbler lid replacement lists the kits; a dried gasket is why a bottle “stops working.”
