Yeti replacement parts: what's for sale, what a claim covers, and why the third-party latch voids everything

Yeti's warranty page opens by advertising its parts catalog and closes by excluding any cooler fitted with someone else's. Here is the catalog by failure, the free-or-not question, and the two parts most Yeti owners eventually buy.

What Yeti's own page says

The warranty document, before it gets to the warranty: “YETI REPLACEMENT PARTS. Though YETI products are built to be the most durable on the market, lost parts, years of wear and tear, and accidents happen. So whether you misplaced your favorite cap, need to upgrade your T-latches, or had an unexpected run-in with spear guns, bucking bulls, or a fiery barbecue pit, rest assured we have a wide selection of replacement parts ready to do damage control. Shop replacement parts by category below.” Two things are worth noticing. Yeti puts the parts catalog above the warranty text, which tells you which one it expects you to use. And it names the three failure modes honestly: lost, worn, broken. Two of those three are excluded from the warranty (“normal wear and tear”), which is exactly why the catalog exists.

Part names from YETI's warranty document and its authorized retailers' listings (yeti.com blocks fetches). Whether a specific failure is a defect or wear is YETI's call under the document's terms.

Free, or not

The third-party clause

“The warranty does not cover defects caused by third-party modifications, repairs, or replacement parts.” Generic T-latches that fit a Tundra cost less than Yeti's and are widely sold. Fit one and a subsequent hinge crack or lid warp is, under that clause, arguable as caused by the modification. On a cooler inside its five years, the saving is not worth the argument. On a cooler in year seven with no term left, buy whichever latch you like. The same logic applies to Rambler lids: third-party MagSlider copies exist, and a Rambler is a five-year product. Tumbler lid replacement covers the drinkware side.

Are Yeti replacement parts free?

Under an approved warranty claim for a defect, Yeti repairs or replaces the part at its discretion. For lost, worn or accidentally broken parts, which Yeti's own page names as the reasons the catalog exists, you buy the part.

Does Yeti sell replacement latches?

Yes: T-Rex lid latches for Tundra and Roadie coolers, sold as a pair with keeper pins, through Yeti and its authorized dealers.

Does Yeti sell replacement lids for Ramblers?

Yes: MagSlider lids (20 and 30 oz), Straw Lids, HotShot caps, and bottle caps (Chug, Straw, HotShot), plus replacement straws.

Do third-party parts void the Yeti warranty?

Can I get a free Yeti straw?
