The best tumblers for cold drinks: who publishes an ice claim, and what Treeline saw
Every tumbler here is 18/8 double-wall vacuum steel; the differences are the lid, the mouth, and whether the maker will put an hour figure on paper. Seven ranked on the cold axis, with the term behind each.

The published claims
Most tumbler makers say “keeps drinks cold for hours” and stop. A few put a number on it, and a number is something you can hold a warranty claim against. Klean Kanteen: “Climate Lock keeps contents iced up to 66 hours” on the 32 oz TKWide. Stanley: “Cold 12 hours, iced 2 days” on the IceFlow 30 and “cold for 11 hours, iced for 2 days” on the ProTour 40. Owala: “24 Hours Cold.” Simple Modern: “cold for 24+ hours.” RTIC Outback: “cold for up to 24 hours.” Purist: “24 hours cold depending on lid style.” Hydro Flask: “24 hours cold” (on a page we could read only via an archive). YETI: no figure on the dealer pages we could read. This page ranks on those claims plus Treeline's test, and the claims are labeled as claims on every card.

What Treeline saw
A wide mouth and a big ice load matter more than the brand. A 32 oz bottle packed with ice and topped with water is a day of cold anywhere; a 20 oz tumbler with three cubes is not, whatever the label says. The other lever is the lid: a straw lid is an open hole, and a sealed screw cap (Klean Kanteen's Chug, YETI's Chug Cap) holds cold longer than a FlowState cover. Tumbler vs water bottle is that argument.
On warranty, the cold-drink field is mostly lifetime: Stanley (steel, not lids), Owala, Simple Modern, Klean Kanteen. RTIC's Outback is the honest outlier at 90 days, and Purist's term could not be read on its product page. The tumbler warranty comparison quotes each.

Buyer's guide: keeping ice in a tumbler
Fill it with ice, not with drink
Ice first to the top, then liquid. The ice is the insulation.
Pre-chill the steel
A minute of ice water, dumped, before the fill. A room-temperature tumbler spends its first cubes on itself.
A sealed lid beats a straw lid
Straws and sliders are holes. For a car, fine; for a day in a bag, a chug cap or leakproof flip.
Read the term
Stanley excludes lids and straws; Klean Kanteen requires an authorized seller; RTIC gives 90 days. Every term.
When it stops holding ice
It is the lid or the vacuum. Why is my tumbler not keeping ice walks the diagnosis.
How we scored this
Units we claim to have tested: 0
Plenty of sites say they filled every cooler on this list with ice and watched it for a week. We don't say that, and we say so on every page. What we do instead: read the maker's published capacity, insulation, dimensions and weight; quote the warranty term from the maker's own warranty page with the date we read it; check whether the latches, gaskets, plugs, lids and straws are sold as parts; and cite the third-party ice-retention tests (OutdoorGearLab, Outdoor Life, Treeline, Outside, Gear Patrol) as their measurements, never ours. Every figure links to where it came from.
Scores are editorial judgments from that documented research, not lab results. Commissions never set a score or decide a pick. The rubric and its weights are published.

Questions
Frequently asked
What tumbler keeps ice the longest?
By published claim, Klean Kanteen's TKWide (“iced up to 66 hours”), then Stanley's IceFlow and ProTour (“iced for 2 days”). Treeline's daily test put the Owala FreeSip and Purist Mover at a full day.
What is the best tumbler to keep ice from melting?
A wide-mouth bottle with a sealed cap, filled with ice: the Klean Kanteen TKWide 32 oz or YETI Rambler 26 oz Chug. Straw and slider lids are holes.
Do Yeti tumblers keep drinks cold longer?
YETI publishes no hour figure on the pages we could read, so it cannot rank on this axis. Its 5-year term and lid catalog are its case.
Are these tumblers good for hot drinks too?
Not all. Stanley says the IceFlow and ProTour are not for hot liquids; Owala says no hot liquids in the FreeSip. See best tumblers for coffee.
Did you test these?
No. Units we claim to have tested: 0. Claims are the makers'; observations are Treeline's.

We don't claim to have tested these coolers or tumblers and we don't pretend to. Units we claim to have tested: 0. Specs come from the maker's own product pages (linked on every product), warranty terms from the maker's warranty page with the date we read it, and ice-retention measurements are attributed to whoever made them. Amazon prices change often, so we don't print them. Where a figure isn't published, we say so. Read the full method.
