The lids that can't take heat
Stanley's IceFlow: “Not for use with hot liquids.” Stanley's ProTour: the same line. Owala's FreeSip: “shouldn't be used with hot, carbonated, or perishable liquids.” RTIC's Road Trip: “The Lid and Straw are not recommended for use with hot beverages.” Klean Kanteen: the Chug and Twist caps “can only be used with neutral or iced liquids”; the loop cap holds hot up to 24 hours. Purist: not above 185°F. A straw lid over hot coffee is a burn and a pressure problem, and the makers say so. This page ranks the tumblers whose makers say the opposite.

The one published temperature
The rest of the field publishes durations without temperatures. Simple Modern's “hot for 12+ hours” and Klean Kanteen's “24 hours” hot claim are honest about what they are: durations to “still warm,” not to a temperature. Treeline's daily test adds texture: Simple Modern's Classic had “morning coffee poured at 6 AM still hot at noon,” the Yeti Rambler Travel Mug kept “coffee warm through lunch,” and Owala's SmoothSip (not in our registry) was Treeline's best for hot drinks. Ceramic linings (Yeti's mug, RTIC's Outback and Road Trip) are about taste, not retention; they keep coffee from picking up steel and from leaving a flavor for tomorrow's water.
On terms: Zojirushi 5 years on the vacuum, Yeti 5 years on Rambler, Klean Kanteen and Simple Modern lifetime, RTIC 90 days. The tumbler warranty comparison has each quoted, and tumbler lid replacement covers the lids, which on a coffee mug means the gasket that stops sealing.

Buyer's guide: coffee that stays hot
Pre-heat the steel
A minute of hot tap water, dumped, before the pour. Zojirushi's 158°F-at-6-hours assumes the vessel started cold; you can beat it.
Fill it
Air space is where heat goes. A full 16 oz mug holds temperature better than a half-full 30 oz.
Locking lids for bags
Zojirushi's safety lock and 2-step release exist because hot coffee in a backpack is the worst leak. A MagSlider (Yeti) is a desk lid.
One mug for coffee, one bottle for water
Or a Klean Kanteen with two caps. Coffee flavor in a steel bottle lasts; ceramic linings help.

Can you put hot coffee in a Stanley Quencher?
Stanley says the IceFlow and ProTour flip-straw tumblers are “not for use with hot liquids.” Stanley's classic bottles are a different product.
Can you put hot coffee in an Owala FreeSip?
No. Owala's page says the stainless FreeSip “shouldn't be used with hot, carbonated, or perishable liquids.”
